The Sig 226 is a exceptional firearm, additional options are a plus. I have owned a few and if I could do it all over again, I would have kept my Sig 226 Blackwater Tactical.

Thanks. Hard to believe it is 27 years old.
If I could only keep one pistol, that would be it, even my 1918 and 1920 Colts would be sold first.

Unfortunately the only experience I have with the p226 is in the military having to get qualified on it. They (USCG) literally put a 10 pound DAO trigger in it and it ruined my opinion of the p226 so much that I won't even fancy the thought of owning one.

I picked up a new P227 Nitron (basically a 226 in .45) and I absolutely love it. It's probably my favorite firearm.

It is just good sense.
The 1918 Colt Model of 1911 I have is iconic. They were also all made with fairly soft slides. The breech faces tend to peen; no breech face plug pistols were made during that time, and locally hardened slides were not available for many years after it was made. The 1920 Colt is a fine pistol... in .32 ACP. I'd have to choose good sense over romanticism, if it ever came to that.
