Great job.
I don't think it's that big of a deal if you love your car, enjoy it

Between these major events, I don't think GM has a lot of room for R&D on other changes.

For those who are bound to point out that the GT is faster than the SS, I will dispute that claim on two fronts. Firstly, you're not winning by much. A good Camaro driver will catch you. Secondly, there never were many people at the track that showed up stock, and 2011 won't change that. When our higher displacement engines come to the track, we will frequently be coming with exhausts, headers, intakes, and sometimes other parts. For the same modifications, it's a safe bet that we get the same slight advantage. Since both stock and modded pony cars are so close, let's be nice and show respect for both companies doing a good job.

Finally, we are getting some very important features here. The increasingly popular V6 is going to start seeing more orders, and that is the segment that is most important to win. That segment is where the numbers of so many other competitors lie, and winning there helps Chevrolet make claim to a very competitive segment in terms of performance and fuel efficiency. We're getting SGM on more cars, which is something our community specifically requested. We're also getting that HUD we wanted so much.

To say the very least, this is a very impressive update for a car in its second model year. We are very lucky to have GM catering to our requests so eagerly, and we should be eager to show our excitement.

I had HUD in my Grand Prix GTP years ago and it was AWESOME to have! I would love to retro my '10 to a HUD but the cost would probably be way over the top...sigh...:(

I love the car, but I remember Fbodfather saying something about the Camaro being on top, and it will be, not anymore.

“The 304 horsepower in the 2010 Camaro was actually a conservative rating on our end,” said Tom Sutter, GM V-6 chief engineer. “But we knew already that this award-winning engine produced at least the amount of power we stated, but now we’ve gone the extra step in certifying the engine for this application and have verified an additional 8 horsepower.”

I don't believe they 'tweaked' anything, just using a different scale to measure the same output of the 2010. Granted this scale is likely the same the new Mustang is using, but it sounds like they are just measuring the power different and getting more market savy numbers rather than actually changing anything on the engine output.

As far as HUD, at the price of this car, I think it's a big mistake.

The Corvette (with Hud) has a very specific market. Most car enthusiasts that can spend that much moeny for a car are likely more adept to handle such a distracting mod and drive fine. The general public, which is who the Camaro prices attract, will be easily distracted and pay too much attention to the HUD info, as compared to the road.

Pilot's of aircraft that use HUD say there is a 'getting used to' period where they have to train themselves to look through the HUD and use the info, but at the same time, see surrounding environment. The typical driver on the road today can barely coordinate carrying a conversation using a hands free on a cellphone safely behind the wheel, now they'll have HUD to work with ???

Keep the HUD for the 2SS ONLY. That caliber buyer will be like the a Corvette buyer and more a car enthusiast that, majority anyway, can handle such a mod.

Honestly, it's not that big of a deal.

If you race, you're not going to stay stock anyway.

If you don't, it's still a great car and stands out in a sea of Stangs.

I love my Camaro!

The scale for how they rate hp under SAE is always the same. They didn't decide to come up with numbers from a different "scale".

It does however prove that you can still underrate cars with the new SAE ratings.

Why so negative? And according to WHO? The editors at MotorTrend? People need to stop letting other people tell them what to believe. Experience both cars for yourself and pick the one that fits you best. Don't worry about who's .1 seconds faster than the other...it's absolutely pointless.

Nevertheless...the Camaro team will NOT settle for "second"...but did you seriously expect them to counter the Mustang in 6 months? Less, even....things take time...especially when it comes to cars.

If they "verified" the V6 at 312hp does that mean the2010 V6 is already at 312hp?
