gm oil pump

Hi guys not to keep beating an old horse but my stock oil pump just took a dump after only 20000 miles. luckily it started making noise so I took it to the dealer to get it replaced under warranty before any damage was done. I did notice that oil pressure would drop at idle but didnt think anything off it, I tool it in cause it was making a tapping noise coming from the pulley. So for sure Im upgrading the oil pump when I do mods

There have been numerous talks about these stock pumps going out in the LS3s. Had mine replaced just a few days ago when I had my cam put in.

+2. I just put one in over Christmas. I also did a c5r chain, ls2 guide, 3bolt gear, and a trunion upgrade.

The pumps in the L99s supposedly are more durable then the ones in the LS3's, so yes.

It is the bypass valve sticking in the bore due to the poor care taken in machining. They dont debur them and thats why far to many have issues. The Melling is my choice though.

AND the rotor material and cover material do not mesh together and will actually gall and the rotor will occasionally weld itself to the cover. I spoke to a melling engineer personally, luckily he was a Gearhead.

There are still other issues but its one of the reasons stock pumps fail.
