I'd be worried that it would eat the paint on the rims......

If it really becomes a problem...use a light detergent soap and water when washing your car with a toothbrush. If your really anal (like me) pull the wheels off and spray em down real good

The metallic gold Brembos on my 350Z are clearcoated. Brake cleaner shouldn't harm it one bit, although if cleaned regularly, like Kwaz1335 said, any car wash soap should remove it. It only becomes a problem when left on for a prolonged period of time.

I'd avoid the brake cleaner routine, not sure what the effects will be over time and with the extreme temps.

I would suggest using one of the spay-on wheel cleaners for alloy wheels. Make sure the brakes are cold, not warm, and dry. Follow instructions, make sure you use a good hard spray when washing it off.

Should be safest thing and it will work.
