Start here. And since someone has already said it, I will go ahead and finish it....Have you considered a TT option?

I wish I got paid by them. I'm just an unemployeed bum right now and could use the work.
Not everyone wants the best performing, best value setup. Same reason there are Mustangs/Camaros/Challengers. Some people value different things.

Funny because a turbo can give you either depending on how you set it up. You can have 800ftlbs at 2000rpm, or you can have a slower spooling that comes on later. A good turbo shop can set you up with the proper setup for your needs, whether that is instant torque or something that comes on gradual to try to hook up.

Good advice for the OP. Determine your goals and what equipment you will need to get there. Add up the cost, and then double it and add some more. Make sure you have enough before you start.

And there we go...the turbo boys just needed a little nudge to take off on another supercharger thread. I'm surprised it lasted until page 3. Usually this happens on page 1, post number 3 of a supercharger thread. (P.S. I'm just having a little fun here). For the record, turbo's are a great option. All the systems have their pluses and minuses. All them well argued over and well documented here on this forum...at at your fingertips to read with a quick use of the search function.
On another note. One thing I do want to disagree with is that you need to double the budget for anything you plan to do. When I put on my KB charger...it went on complete with everything that came in the kit and didn't cost me anything more than maybe a couple of tools and bits and ends that I needed ($100ish). And I think to be fair, there are MANY people who have simply slapped on a supercharger kit and enjoyed the hell out of it. But again...there are certainly some examples of people having issues and overshooting their budget. There's datapoint to support all sides of an argument. But I disagree that we need to scare the OP that a $7000 supercharger kit has a high chance of turning into $10k or $14k. Now on the other hand...so many of us put on that base kit, get used to the power level real quick and simply want more. Then the spend goes up quick. |

Make sure you get a company that responds since you are laying out a lot of money and may need support. I got as far as a quote from one company and no response from another before no acknowledgement of emails and I was ready to buy. I went to a different company and walked instead of emails with good results so far.
I understand busy in the spring but no response is worse than we are too busy go away for now. |
