2015 ls3 0 miles, amount of time to have engine crank over
bought a brand new 2015 LS3 first time I went to start it , form the time I turned the key it always seemed to take a .5 second to a full 1 second than normal for it to catch and start firing, I figured maybe its because the rings haven't set properly yet and still needs to be broken in iam sitting at about 400 miles now and still am having the same response everytime cold or hot starts. is this a concern or should I just ignore it since the car runs fine. anyone else having this issue?

Mine does the same thing. Turn the key, let it go, the starter turns the motor over and .5 to 1 second later it's running. Fires on the first attempt every time. I've just attributed it to the amount of metal the starter has to get moving. There is a significant amount of mass to be set into motion, etc.
The couple of cars I tested all did this. I rather enjoy it actually. It adds a sense of occasion to getting in the car. I am by no means an expert though. So, plenty of room for me to be wrong. |

You can upgrade to a high torque starter...I'm gonna do it eventually

Anything that brand new will take a second to fire up.
I work at a plant that builds Freightliners/Western Stars, it takes a few attempts to fire up a brand new engine and drive it off the jack at the end of the line. |

The LS3 (2011) I owned would crank over a few times before it fired. Never bothered me because it always fired. Did that for the whole 2 years I owned it.

LS3 has reasonably high compression at 10.7:1 ratio. For comparison, my 462 cubic inch V8 can be hard to start hot or cold, and it's "only" 10:1. That's why I bought a mighty battery for it. 3 seconds to start? No worries, I have the juice.
What are you comparing it to, Keach, what was your last car? I think maybe you're just not used to this sort of thing.

thats why i found it weird for a 6.2L to take a little bit longer to fire up, the diesel i understand waiting for the stupid glow light to extinguish before cranking... i still do that out of habit with every car gas or diesel.

Turn the key to the ON position and wait for the fuel pump to prime. You will hear the sound of the pump running. I usually wait 2-5 seconds and then start it. It fires right up.
