Help guide me with some suggestions on mods...

So, other than my Chevelle which I have admittedly not done much to (yet), I haven't ever really had a car worth modding. I've already done some of the basic stuff... cold air intake with the scoop, skip shift eliminator, and things like that... I have some other mods picked out, and of course, since it's pay to play, I'll check items off the list as I can afford them, but I was wondering what the best 'bang for the buck' mods would be to improve handling of the car. I've never been much for drag racing, and I'd ultimately like to take the car out on some road courses just for some fun... So where should I start? My first step will be a set of Pfadt drop springs, but beyond that... sway bars? Strut tower brace?

Help guide me... oh, and how easy are the drop springs to install? Will I need an alignment?

Thanks much for your insight.

Dave,

Allow me to suggest your first should be to read through THE Book of 5th Gen to get a clear understanding of what makes an off the showroom floor 5th Gen a great automobile and what modifications can make it a GREAT automobile. For ease of access to THE Book is indexed and hyperlinked by chapter.

Lowering Coils and Coilovers

Trouble Free, OEM Quiet V6 Lowering

Sway Bars

Wheels and Tires

Bush Timing, Alignment and Torque Specs

Pedders USA Camaro 2.0

Lingenfelter L/28 Tech

Thermal Management

Running Changes Made to the 5th Gen by Chevrolet

Public Track Test #1

Public Track Test #2 Camaro vs. Mustang Supercar Shootout

Does all this work on track? This video speaks for itself.

Skip the drop springs (they're bad for your struts)! Save your money for some coilovers instead, especially if you would like to see some road course action. In my opinion, sway bars and end links would be a good logical starting point. Skip the strut tower brace too, they are pretty much useless on these cars....other than looking cool.

If you want top-of-the-line stuff, I would highly recommend looking at PFADT suspension components.

bang for buck suspension mods sounds like sways bushings bushings bushings and more bushings....through on some QUALITY coilovers and you will ride on rails

dont forget wheels and tires play a big part in handling as well as ditching unsprung and rotational mass

Pete did link you his book and make for fascinating reads!

Sway bars are by FAR the best bang for your buck suspension modification, but I do suggest going through the links that Pete provided. There is a ton of great info in there. Then feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions. We are a dealer for just about every suspension company out there and have tried and tested many different parts and combinations, so we know what works and can get you setup with the right parts the first time!

Best regards,
