insurance companies don't pull your credit though so I don't think that would have a factor in the price.

You're right, it should cost less based on the price of the car, but claims history also plays a part. You might be able to insure a Corvette for less than the ZL1, since a lot of the drivers are older and it's more likely to be a secondary car for a lot of drivers. Your insurance company may have paid more claims on Chargers and this could affect the rate they charge owners in your state.

You might try calling another carrier and checking the rates on both cars to see if your rates are competitive.

My aunt was in the business for many years...trust me, it matters...

It's why someone who has good credit but 4 DUI's will pay less than you with bad credit but a perfect driving record...

It's beyond stupid, and it has no business determining your score

The GT350 and ZL1 were the same price, so not the reason. Credit score didn't change either.

I'm just giving reasons as to why it can impact, not that it necessarily will. Also, some cars in some areas are considered more high risk than others, despite the same HP/look/style/etc...

Tis why a Honda Accord can be higher risk than a Toyota Corolla...or why a Mustang can cost more than a ZL1...or vice versa...

its your credit-based insurance scores rather than your actual credit score. some where in there, there is a difference. they don't do hard pulls for insurance, only things like loans, mortgages ect... I work with insurance co's on the daily. there is a lot of factors that could determine the price but im not an agent so I couldn't tell you why two platforms would be noticeably different on the same coverages lol .

The link I included previously explains just that. It's still a "credit score" so its something to obviously be aware of...many are in the dark about it..

The insurance company came back to me today after having the underwriters review it and they were able to shave $225 off the original quote, but it is still more expensive than my Z. They said they also look at claims for that car. I told them that isnt a fair comparison since it is also used a lot as a Fleet car(Police,etc...). How do u compare a car that might sell 20,000 units in a year vs a car that might sell 3,000. It would make sense the claims will be higher for the Charger based off that.

With a very similar question (not a Charger or Challenger) my insurance guy told me it's all about the information in their database on frequency and amount they've paid out on claims.
My guess is there are a lot of Chargers/Challengers and so there have been significant claims. There aren't many ZL1's and so there aren't many claims. My insurance guy said their data isn't adjusted well for how many cars are on the road, primarily just claims numbers.

If that's true, that would explain the difference.

I had a 2016 Challenger Hellcat that I traded for the 2017 ZL1. The insurance price was essentially the same in my case. Somewhere around $600/6 months.

that's more in a soft credit check so its relatively different but you are correct.
