Classic SS Emblems on 5th gen

Has anyone tried to remove the small SS logo on the grill of the new Camaro and then replace the gold bowtie on the front and back with classic larger SS logos...from a 1st gen Camaro? I have been wondering if this will work but I have yet to see anyone do it.

Do you know if reproduction SS logos for 1st generation Camaro's will fit properly on the front of one of these new Camaro's? Also, has anyone seen a application of these logos on the back of the car in place of the gold bowtie?

I've got a couple on their way from yearone.com. I'll let you know (pics!) as soon as I get them and get some time to get them on. I also bought a couple of the decklid badges from '69 (Camaro by Chevrolet) and a couple of the regular Camaro emblems. I just like the cursive script better. Once I get those on, I'll post pics of everything.

I've got the SLP "SS" on the front & rear. I'm happy with them, but if I had to do it again, I'd go for the repro 1st Gen "SS" emblems instead. The ones from SLP are too flat & 2 dimensional, I would have preferred the look of the old raised emblems, but the SLP's are "good enough". It might take a bit of searching, but a few guys on here have done it. If I remember correctly, it's just a matter of bending it slightly and cutting the guide pins, but I'm not positive.

Below is a link from another thread with pics of the SLP's on my SS front & back. I also have the links to get them cheaper than ordering them direct from SLP.

Here's what you do:

Order the 2010 Camaro "plastic grille insert" from SLP. Get a 1969 GM licensed "SS" emblem from either YearOne or Rick's Camaro. The real emblem comes with metal pins that you will have to get machined off. Have them cut the pins off and buff the back of the emblem so it is polished and flat. Then get some emblem tape and fix the metal emblem to the plastic insert. Then the grille insert with attached "SS" simply snaps on to the grille where the bowtie was previously located.

When you have the machine shop cut the pins off and sand it down, tell them to be very careful not to get it too hot or the paint will flake off the emblem.

Looks killer. I get comments all the time..."Did your Camaro's SS come like that?"
