other than sounding great does a cutout offer any hp gains over stock ?

If tuned for then yes. Cut outs are pre cats and really can effect backpressure. You can tune timing and AFR for things like this and it will help the end result a lot more then just slapping one on there.

No you would. Electrical cutouts are controlled by throttle position and tuning can be measured the same way too. As RPMs increase and the cutout opens you would play with the scales. But if it was a fulltime cutout it would be a slightly different map then a gradual cutout

I'm curious too. I like the idea of being able to open up the cut-outs from inside the car if some moron is blaring his music next to me thinking he's cool.
Also, if you do cut-outs, where do you put them in relation to everything else in the exhaust system, and where do you run pipe, if any, from the cut out. |

You lose lowend TQ but gain it back with highend TQ with it open.A long time ago in my 2000 camaro (ls1) I gained 9rwhp with a crappyFlowbasher.
