cutouts = sluggish?

Anyone with cutouts? Did any of you notice how freakin' slow your car was afterwards? It seems like mine turned into a COMPLETE slug with the cutouts open. I LOVE the sound, but my lord it doesn't go anywhere! Like a 7 second 0-60 or something. I was just curious if anyone else had this problem?

L99 with qtp cutouts.

You need some back pressure.

I figured since they dyno'd 18rwhp gain, that it would be at least somewhat quicker, but it feels MUCH slower. Almost like there's a bigger stall converter in it now.

How did the torque numbers look?

17rwtq gain, that's why it's throwing me off.

Its hard to diagnose things over the internet, especially without first hard knowledge of your cars modifications and without the before and after dyno charts, but I'm thinking that while you peak power and torque numbers are higher you have lost in the lower rpm range due to the lack of back pressure. Does it feel like a dog when you take off but then comes alive as the revs build?

There's no mods other than the cutouts. It definitely feels like a dog (doesn't even bark 1st with TC off), but it does slightly pick up, it just doesn't feel like what it used to. it feels like it takes FOREVER to get through 1st and 2nd gear!

Cut outs are mostly for top end wide open power. Only time I ever open mine are 3/4 of the way thru a drag race.

Mine has actually gained time with Noweeds,, but I have a tune to help benefit them.

You'll gain power in higher RPM range from them, starting out you won't have the back pressure.

If you are not tuned for cutouts you will need to run them open for a little bit for the computer to adjust to them. Also the loud exhaust may seem slower. Dyno and track times have proven it.

Also cutouts are not just for top end. Thats a myth like burning up valves. All depends on your engine output and your exhaust system.

I have noweeds and actually just made a post yesterday. I talked with andy at livernois which will be doing my maggie install this next week and tune and he said it is a perception that the car is slower do to the exhaust but a tune will help a little. He also said that I can have my supercharger tuned and it wont effect if they are open or closed. So if it makes more torque with them closed I will use that for a roll race and if it makes less torque down low I will use it for drag races so I can build power as I go and have less torque down low since the maggie already has plenty. He said I will not notice a diff once tune though except for the perception thing.

with the noweeds, you might see a gain because the outlet is still around 3 inches
with QTP you have the 4 inch oval + the mufflers' 2.5"
lower restriction, different behavior.

It would stand to reason that you gain torque at the top and lose it at the bottom, off the line.

mine dyno'd 5hp lower with the cutouts open.
I'f you're open during WOT, lord help you and everyone around you.

I have a tunnel near work, long enough to hold 4 cars
I can't imagine what it sounds like for those poor souls @ WOT

if you want the most while open, you need a O2 bung at the headers just for the wideband / tune sensor during the dyno tune

yall are forgetting cutouts are for upper HP you lose lots of lowend torque with them open. However once the car gets moving then you feel the power.
