Thanks to the Alberta Oil Sands, 1 more Camaro Owner!

Here's my story:

I come from a Camaro family - Dad bought his 1970 Z28 on May 24, 1970, and still has it to this day. In the 1980's, I remember we had an IROC Z-28, which was sadly sold when my sister and I were deemed too big to fit in the backseat.
In 2007, I bought a Mazdaspeed 3 - this was before GM announced that the Camaro was coming back in 2010 (Doh!). I was seriously thinking that in 2011, I would pick up an LS or LT. Dad kept joking that if I won the lottery, he would buy me a 2010 SS.
Well, it turns out that I sort of won the lottery - got a job in Fort McMurray - this put me in a position where I could now afford to upgrade to the SS. Was I going to wait until 2011? NO!
So here I am today - the proud owner of a 2010 Camaro 2SS M6 in CGM. Proud to finally be part of the Camaro community!

Awesome, congrats! That's cool that your dad has had his car for 40 years!! A friend of mine has a red MS3, fun little car.

WOW! That's almost my story exactly!
lol

Dad bought a used 1971 Z28 in the summer of 1980 back in Corner Brook NL where I was raised. Years later (1993 exactly), he sold it.

However.. I had obsessed over it ever since.

Fast forward to 2006.
GM unveils the Camaro concept which gives me a new kind of motivation and goal to work toward. In the pursuit of my dreams, a year later I move to Fort McMurray with a big goal of purchasing my very own Camaro. Soon after, news on a production Camaro is confirmed, and finally, as of April, 2010, I am the proud owner of a 2010 Camaro SS/RS.

Lovin life!

Gotta love Fort Mac! I'm one of those people who takes all of Alberta's money and spends it in BC, though :P

Congrats on your purchase!!!!
Seriously? Wow. How's that 12% HST working for ya?
Too bad, if you'd kept your money in Alberta... you'd have 5% GST (no PST) on your purchases instead of 12%. Oh, and the HST is applied to EVERYTHING!... whereas the GST is restricted... hmmm...

Too bad. But hey, if you're into paying the government a heckuvalot of extra money unnecessarily... BOOYA!
Facetious.. maybe...

But Alberta does balance it's budget. Even in today's economy.

Offset by the fact that I get a $1200 income tax rebate every year, because I am overpaying my BC taxes, thanks to the fact that AB tax is deducted. Thanks for asking! :P

$1200? That's great!

My wife and I will take our $4569 and go wild. Plus our cheque sent out from the provincial government every tax time ($150 x 2). Not much added, but still... it's nice.

<GRIN>

...and there's a reason why the B.C. and Ontario people are filing to repeal the HST. HST on EVERYTHING? Seriously?
