More cars from Ford?

I was made a comment about how the new Z/28 was going to be awesome and how the Camaros should be lighter on the alpha platform on a video someone put up on youtube about the new 2012 Camaro Z/28 and here is the response I got back from someone...

"the 302 will be a model car its slotting between the 5.0 and the gt500 and for all camaros you better duck becaust the shelby gt350 is coming back too 300 lb less than a 5.0 with 550 hp+. also now that the 5.0 is back you can bet the bigger bosses like the 429 are coming to so chevy will have alot on their hands".

This is the first I had heard of a new Shelby gt350 being lighter than a 5.0 has anyone else heard about this?

I haven't heard anything about the weight loss on the gt350. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bit lighter, but 300 lbs is unlikely. You are adding weight with the blower components and 300 lbs is a hell of a lot to shed elsewhere. If the gt350 were to weigh 3300 lbs and push 550hp it would be an absolute monster. I would take whatever that person says with a few salt shakers LOL.

Sounds like heresy.

Current round up of Mustangs:
v-6
GT
Boss 302
GT350 (btw - you can get N/A and S/C versions of this add-on package; it will weigh more than a regular GT)
GT500

I am looking forward to the Z/28. It will be interesting to see how well it performs. I will venture to guess it will have better traction than the GT500 and net similar 0-60 and 1/4 mile times as the CTS-V coupe.

but as for lighter i do not recall anything about that. there should be a video up on youtube talking about the new gt350

I haven't heard anything about weight changes in the GT350 as its been said above by 8cd3gro it'll probably be a bit lighter but not 300 pounds lighter it'll probably be around 150 pounds lighter at the most.

I don't really see the GT350 being any lighter than the GT. But this is pure speculation on my part. I just don't think they can do it while adding a blower and all the supporting parts. Add to this the fact it is going to be a Shelby so probably will be pretty decked out even in base trim.

the Gt350 cost 60k from shelby, or 30k ad-on if you bring your 5.0L
the power is around 500 to 550hp, shelby says its a stock engine.

..and, they won't be sold new through Ford. They should actually weigh more than the stock GT, as they'll have the added weight of the blower package. Pretty cool car, though.

What I'm wondering, is if there will be a bigger engine "boss"... Not that we really need more than the 550 HP offered in the GT500, but it would be cool to see the peak of the line with a big boss, before CAFE/EPA once again kills off American muscle cars..
