Gears with NOS

What gear ratio are you guys running with NOS? Trying to decide which run should I do first NOS or gears?? If I do gears I want to make sure I choose right ratio? Car has cam, headers, tune, CAI.

reminds me of THIS classic on the GSX-R forums from a few years back...

To OP....(trying to keep this on topic here...) - I think you'd be good with the stock gears, especially if you're going to be spraying in your early shifts. First and 2nd gear are going to run out real quick if you're really getting on it. If anything, you may want to go to a lower gear ratio, depending on how much power you're putting down. But at the same time, if you're only going to be hitting it in gear 3+, then you could probably afford to go a little higher (like 3.73s in the zl1 diff)

I've always understood it to be ideal to beef up the driveline prior to any big power mods. No use dropping 3,7, 10k+ on FI of some sort only to shred your rear end when the power comes on full bore

Both nitrous and gears are going to make it harder to hook the tires. If you aren't going with DRs, I would do the nitrous first since you can control when it comes on with a window switch.

3.91's will make you quicker but nitrous is a completely different animal in speed. You'll need a really good set of DR's preferably MT's or NT05's or else you can forget hooking with all the extra torque. All depends on what type of racing you do and how often you race.

Gears make you quicker than most cars in the upper 400 to lower 500 rwhp range BUT a good shot of nitrous puts you in a much higher class of cars to race with. You will need multiple bottles because you wont really want to race as much when you are out of bottle to spray. Its like crack

I run 3.70 s MT ET /Streets and it just grabs and goes when the juice comes on but I use a WOT in combination with a window switch so it will only spray at full throttle above 3600 RPM.

Thanks Bildo, I wanted to install 3.91s just in case I don't spray, but if I do spray those gears are pretty steep.
