NLR, Byron or GLD
Tired of GLD prep or lack of... Anyone having a good experience at NLR formerly known as US41? I can't floor my little ol' 370rwhp car at GLD.

NLR has had some the best prep over the last 2 years. The track is a dump, but the strip itself is great. GLD is a joke guys, I ran my best 60s on street tires at NLR. It's never disappointed me prep. Byron had always been good to me also, that's a suprize.

Okay thanks Mike, I'm open to hitting NLR too. I was saying to Darth Octane that I like hitting BW3's on the way home.

I have only been there once this year and it was t&t that night. Only about 15 cars and only maybe 3 drag cars 2 of tem left after 2 passes and they spun hard. I had a tuff time hooking even though I had my best 60' and ET but it was the only time running with my new converter. I made approx. 8 passes and completely spun through first on half and only 2 passes were pretty good but still a small amount of slip at about 30'. Part of it was tires not hot enough but I don't think prep was very good that night.
I can't really compare to other tracks as I have not run this setup anywhere else yet.

Jerry how was Byron, I heard Jim went 11.63 so he must have been at least a mid 1.6.

They attempted to prep the track a ton. They sprayed it a lot, kept it clean. And at least once an hour shut it down to do full prep. But the problem was the cold ground. Jim ran a 11.72 @ 117 with a 1.72 60ft. new PB for him, but could not cut a 1.6x. 60ft. So I'd say Byron did a great effort to try and keep it as sticky as they could. But the cold won. There was even a AWD Jeep srt8 spinning all 4 wheels for about 100ft or so. sent from my galaxy s3. that would explain the errors.

Hmmm. I did see some pics of some friend's cars hooking there on Sunday but they might have all been on slicks.
So was Jim getting some smoke off the tires but it would spin if he flashed the converter? How did he launch? I think the trick to making the track work when it's cold is for BJ to drag it periodically and for them to spray the line here and there, and keep cars doing down the track... Keep heat in it.

Jim was smoking em pretty good. He really was hooking decently with a little chirp here and there. But i belive he coulda falshed the converter more. He is still trying to find that sweet spot. i think with his mods he should be able to pull a 1.6x eventually.
