It doesn't matter. The C5 is not identical, but inspired by the older ones. Amazing how the whining and crying continues about the '14. Everything has to change, and it is an improvement. The biggest whiners are the ones who want it to never change. It has to, to keep sales going. They don't make the '69 anymore, because tastes and styles change. Change or get left in the dust. I suspect that the biggest whiners are the ones who spent all their money on the C5, and now see their "investment" being left behind as an outdated model. Drives them nuts.

Funny you mention the smoothness of the rear bumper, that was one of the major differences between the concept Camaro and the production Camaro. People hated the step out of the rear bumper on the production version and wanted it smooth like the concept....
Now that people are used to it being the other way they hate the smooth look...

I think the rear on the concept car looks just fine, it's the radical tail light and license plate revamp that kills it imo.

Someone posted an old prelude rear and I think that's what the taillights look most like.

I'm expecting a malibu-like change in the near future. It's a shame because the front change was a good one.

No back step, take a good look at the concept in the center of the bumper - see the pointed center?? It's gone on the 2014 and smoother and wider.

I didn't realize your definition of chiseled was one tiny crease...
When you talk smoothness of the rear bumper then that encompasses the entire rear bumper not just part of it. Below the tail lights the 2014 is much closer to the concept than the 2010. The only difference is sharp cutout of the license and the higher diffuser.
A pretty smooth rear bumper on both the concept and 2014. No backup lights or step out below the license cutout like the 2010-2013.

Definitely agree with the OP. I have been telling everyone that since it was revealed. The 5th gen was made as an inspiration. They finally just grabbed the tails from the 69 and gave them a modern look. To everyone hating: the car should get a slight redesign when it gets put on the ATS frame
