Interesting custom, for sure! I wonder how much it ended up costing.

Wow, now THAT was a lot of work. It's kinda cool, but I'm thinking he would have gotten even better performance using some of the dozens of aftermarket suspension kits and systems that's out there for the '55-'57 cars already.
Ya, and he ruined a nice IROC-Z in the process. I just can't help but wonder "Why" ???????

Half could be the name, only way he can call it a 1956 IROC BELAIR.
Causes it is really "both" and not just a builders made up name for a car. |

Considering the rarity of the '56 versus the availability of an IROC, I'd say he did a great job of saving a classic and making it better, more dependable and funner to drive.
I saw this done with a '69 Fastback Mustang on to a Fox body ('86 LX) donor; the results were excellent and a much better "hybrid" than either car was as itself. |

Interesting concept, but if I was going to take on a project of that magnitude, I could think of far better options... like any of the aftermarket chassis' that are available that take C4 or C5 corvette suspension hardware, or even better, build a new chassis that uses a complete C5 drivetrain under the 56 body. In the long run that would probably require less fab work considering how modular the C5 drivetrain & torque-tube assembly are, and would give you a far superior drivetrain & suspension.

Having a 56' in the garage that I drive and a 2010 IOM 2SS/RS on the way (TPW 2/8/2010) . I'll have the best of both worlds. I would just order a Morrison Chassis with the C5 or C6 suspension if I was going to rebuild the 56'. But I can appreciate the fab work.

wow...just wow. The fab work is really great. I applaud the efforts here.
The problem I have is the Yellow 86 Iroc was pretty rare, and to cut one up to make a '56 Bel Air when so many good companies make excellent chassis units for the shoebox Chevys...I really do not understand the logic here. With that said: Sweet car when he was done. Lots of time was spent doing this RIGHT...even if it was the long way to get there. |
