I touched a Camaro Convertible yesterday!

I was at the Omaha international auto show yesterday..........it was a pretty cool show. They has a 2011 Camaro 1LT with RS package in Victory red on display. It wasn't too busy at the show and the product specialist saw me drooling like a buffoon.....he came over to me and asked me if I would like to get a better peek at it.....I muttered something to the effect of Yes. I hopped over the little glass border and he let me sit in it.......it really was nice. Just like the pictures. It didnt have any power connected so he wouldn't let me see the top go up and down but it was still cool to see.

I got nothing.
LOL! Seriously. Hate convertibles. I'll tolerate the Camaro vert because hey... it's a Camaro! Otherwise... can't stand them.
I live in Canada... so let's see... toss out the top half of the coupe so I can have... nothing. No reverse mohawk...etc. But hey, I can put the top down for around 3-4 months a year. When it's not overly windy or dusty. Which in Alberta... means I could put the top down aboooot 2 weeks a year. Ya.

??? No thank you.

Besides, I like my hearing as it is. No need to rush the old, "WHAT?!!! WHAT DID YOU SAY?!!" thing.

To those who love, and own, a convertible... thank you. For buying them.

For the non french speaking friends, here is what Ivas wrote:

"Any ways, stupids from Canada are totally nuts!"

Now here is my answer to Ivas:

Except to show that you speak french, what is your point???

What is your added value to this thread?

Although I agree, in most convertibles, this is an issue. The Camaro, even without the optional windscreen, is far better than our Sky, Corvettes and XLRs, GMs most recent convertibles I've spent time in. So I'm not intending to disagree with you own reasons for not liking Convertibles, but having spent some time in one on a road trip last year, this is one of the Camaro Convertible strengths in my opinion. Buffeting is low and the resulting noise is very low at least compared to most other convertibles. The ability to have a pleasant conversation without yelling is a plus for this car.

This is a key point, #3, and good to know. I will pass this bit of knowledge along to my convertible-loving friends... and hope they test drive and purchase a Camaro vert.

For ME, though... whenever I see a pic of the Camaro vert... I sigh. And say... that sure is a nice half-Camaro. The styling of the roof is completely gone, and ohmygod... the soft-top... .

However... to each their own... and there IS a market for this. And I, for one, would prefer that GM make the Camaro vert so the people who love both the Camaro AND convertibles can get exactly what they want. While not to my taste... I encourage my half-car windy brethren to buy this thing.

I am still a Canadian born in Windsor . Now living in Indiana . Went through a French english grade school through grade 9 . Attended Assumption High & took French for two years . My mother was living in Paris Franch for 21 years & spoke some Real parisian French to me . All I remember is Ala Vite . Probably not spelled correctly . She must have been thinking about the Camaro as It is supposed to mean --------
GO Fast .
