Damn man that stinks but going into these things you never know what you'll uncover....love this thread....I read in one of your earlier posts that the roof "looked like someone had walked on it".....I totaled my 2018 ZL1 trying to avoid something in the road, took a hard right and clipped a mountain....they totaled the car, the body shop mentioned it looked like "somebody had walked on my roof" but after speaking with a GM engineer he said the "roof is a collapse point and if any corner of the front end has a hard impact and airbags deployed it will look like that" anywho great thread and thanks for updating us!

Thanks - Yes I considered the roof could be a result of the impact. Sure looked like a dance floor though.

You’re welcome

To make things a little worse, I dropped the ECU off to Cordes Performance on my way home to have it checked out. They called this afternoon and it is fried from the welding we did on the motor mount boss, even though I disconnected the battery cables. I hate when problems are self inflicted.

Win some lose some. This car is a unicorn though. I can see you keeping it a very, very long time.

Went to drop off the new shifter assembly and transmission mount this morning, after wading through a sea of Teslas and other cars waiting on repairs I found my car on the frame bench. The new strut tower is in place and hopefully this pain will end soon.

Quick update - Hopefully they have run out of bad news to give me as the car is finally going back together. Sorry for the poor photo quality but if you look close the windshield and dash were removed. Sectioned in at the A pillar. I guess the slightly sagging passenger side door in the auction photos really was something I should have been more concerned about.

Just discovered this thread. Very interesting and well done, going to be fun when finished!
Where will you track it, isn’t Firebird closed?
I used to live in Mesa, still miss AZ.

Thanks, hopefully I will get the car back in a month or so (it will have been in the body shop a total of 4 months by then) and get it put back together.

Firebird (now Wild Horse Pass) will be closing but they are still open and we still have events scheduled there. Podium Club at Atessa, Apex Club and AMP are other tracks nearby.

Thanks! My 16 year old son and I are members of NASA and Pro Autosports. I started club racing around 2000 and was pretty involved with a couple Corvettes for about 10 years. If I can go off topic for a minute, I love where it has taken me. When my older son turned 5 in 2011, I gave it up to take him and his younger brother racing karts and quarter midgets every weekend. I had even more fun doing that, and now I’m no match for either of them. They are 13 and 16 and drive Late Models now. My 16 year old is running in the ARCA Menards series race with NASCAR at Phoenix Raceway on Friday. The ZL1 is going to be what we go to the track with for fun so he can get more road course seat time.
