Problem with the Cam dealer installed it #1 they will rape you on the install, #2 they will not tune the car for the Cam so, #3 the install will not produce any good power gains until tuned for which in turn will re-void the engine warranty

Haha

Dealers don't tune or reflash ECUs to anything but stock maps.

Did anyone see the astronomical prices the dealers are quoting to install this cam for the Corvette guys? $2,000...I hope we can figure out a cheaper way and keep warranty.

And wow they got 456 whp on an LS3 here....listen to that cam!!!!!

just called a performance place that does dyno tuning. expensive stuff but they said they can squeeze an extra 15-30 hp with a tune. plus the hot cams claimed 50 hp = 502 maximum flywheel hp.

Will this hot cam go in the L99 also ? hope there are aftermarket gofast goodies for this other motor/L99. Some instruction on how to shut off the solenoid that activates the vvt.

you don't want to shut off the vvt, nor can you. you may want to shut off the afm but because its only activated in certain situations you can keep it on to improve mpgs. Probably be a different cam for the L99, I don't think the valvetrain can take the same lift as the ls3. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. But there are G8 guys with APS TT setups making huge hp that still have the AFM active.

My question is how much will fuel economy suffer when you install the hotcam?

They're expected to add an additional 30 horses. I don't want anything to look obvious when I open the hood, so I may just drop in a high flow filter into the stock box. It may only add 6 horsed or so, but it still equates to a 508 horsepower engine without a blower. I won't add one of those until she's paid for.
will this be covered under the factory warranty still? i would love to do it. i just have to see if my dealer will install it. also how will the cam affect/ or be affected if i put a blower on down the road?

It will as long as you're an ASE certified mechanic and you use parts that are GM approved, in a GM approved (franchise) shop. I'm not ASE certified, but I know enough who are that will go to bat for me and say they did it. I also know people who will put me on their records at a couple of franchise dealerships. Besides, as its been put many times before, if they can't prove the problem was caused by what you did, they will still cover it. Most of the dealerships don't check. I've also taken my cars into dealerships and told them exactly what was wrong with a couple of my cars, and they just made sure that was, in fact, the problem, thanked me for narrowing it down for them, ordered the part, put it on and called me back to pick it up. No questions asked.

in all honesty, regardless of whether it affects it or not... if your putting in a hot cam to a already powerful engine; gas millage shouldn't be much of a concern to you. i know it wont be with me.
