Scary indeed! But I am thinking its probably best that if someone is going for upgrades, color HUD, color DIC, and even upgrade to MYLINK system it would be best to have it all ready to go at once so when you get to that point above, you can get it all done at once. Think my wife would pass out if she came out to garage and saw me gutting the entire dash every weekend....
BTW, Thanks for all the great info and testing on all this, it helps a lot!

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay. I'll be posting some more shots about the process and my thoughts about the installation and the HUD itself, this weekend. Been a crazy past week!

Are you swapping out the windshield or sticking with the standard one? If your using the standard one, how does the color image look?

Windshield swap? I wasn't aware there was a difference in the glass... Seems extreme

Great question. There's a little bit of "double" look but I'm used to it. The only time I really notice it is on like two of the views with smaller elements. If my windshield ever gets a crack, Ofer let me know that if you tell them you have a HUD, they'll bring a HUD compatible windshield. For now, the minor double effect is really just that- minor. I'm just too happy to have a HUD to really care, or notice.

Yeah from what I have picked up on this forum, factory HUD equipped cars have a special windshield that runs costs about $800 installed after market. It reduces/eliminates ghosting of the image.

Most self installed HUD users just leave the standard windshield in place and say its fine. But those that end up changing it out love the better image quality.

It is good to hear that the color HUD is no worse off than the monochrome HUD on a standard windshield

Adding color HUD to older cars

Ah.
I'm 2LT so I guess I've got that glass? So strange... I wonder if it's got some sort of reflective coating. I can't believe they are allowed to do that it seems to me like it would distract the driver

Waiting for the black suburbans to roll up after that comment....

As one that has hade the non HUD glass in the car for over 2 years before having new glass installed, here is my take on it, it does look better, but its not $800 better, going to do it one more time soon in the new ride.

only if you have HUD will you have the proper glass from the factory, it is a way they layer the glass in the HUD area. does not distort the glass.

So Ofer, if you already have a HUD in your car, what all is involved in the installation?? And by the way, still loving my new MyLink!!!
