GM Will Not Merge With Chrysler - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I attend OSU Institute of Technology in the GM ASEP program. Today, I volunteered to speak at a small advisory board meeting about the future of the GM program at OSU. While there, I was introduced to multiple Service Managers from dealerships around and outside Oklahoma.

I also met a man named Joe Rakoczy, who is one of the men responsible for monitoring GM technician training institutions. His first words in the meeting were to quell all rumors about any merge with Chrysler. He said it makes for great press, but there was nothing behind it. His exact words were something like "I mean, c'mon guys. Otherwise we'd be working on Neons or something. What the hell."

So calm down everyone. It won't happen. I have no real proof other than what I have seen and heard this morning, but I promise this is true. I am not a troll.

GM routinely talks with other companies about mutually beneficial business relationships. That's how Toyota and Chevrolet ended up sharing old and new platforms. It's all good business.

I don't see why discussing business relationships is ever a bad idea.

There is discussions going on - I am quite certain of that. It is just at a very senior and high level at the moment. Tell Joe not to dis the Neon just yet!
