Not quite the same since no V8 is involved but our 2011 2LT/RS is quite a bit less than our 2008 Infiniti G35S sedan that it replaced. Not sure how they are figuring insurance these days but I like it!

We also use USAA...

I have USAA as well, but I pay $220 a month for 12 months with a $500 deductible. I guess it's because I live in Jersey, I'm under 25 years old and I've been in 2 accidents (I was hit in both cases) which weren't my fault. My point is, there are several factors that the insurance companies take into account.

Yeah, the $1000 A6 driver mod would add to the price

For me my SS is $5 a month more than my LT and my 07 Redline is $3 a month more than the SS ...

Honestly, once I added my son to our policy I became numb to the cost.

I just did this with my daughter this past week ... Price went up $602 every six months with her being primary on the Redline. I thought it was going to be a lot worse than it was. Thankfully this is the last kid to go through this with, I'm getting way too old for this !!!

I pay $115 a month for a 2011 Toyota Sienna, 2010 Camaro SS and a 91 Honda Accord with Allstate. Maybe your premiums went down?

Insurance companies are like a new school crime cartel. No rhyme or reason to what they do sometimes. They say what they want from you and you just have to pay.

My tahoe was 141 a month brand new
Had a 350z was 125 a month when it was brand new
Camaro v6 is 288 a month
had a Chevy Astro Van that was paid off 175 a month
Full coverage for everything.

OK, I think I can help here. I went crazy a few years back with my insurance company because they were charging me over $1000/year to insure a Pontiac Sunfire that cost me less than $11,000 new. I had many discussions with my agent and made them go back to the insurance company multiple times to try to get them to explain why I should be paying about 10% of the cost of the car per year for insurance (with clean license, etc.) while my newer, more expensive car was costing me much less to insure.

The answer was that the insurance companies rate cars based on many factors including how often that make and model is in accidents and how much they cost to repair on average. My cheapo Sunfire was a very low end car, bought by lots of kids, they were wrecked alot, and not cheap to repair. It's a complicated formula and it does include the safety stuff and every other factor they can think of, but you get the idea.

Now I call my agent with the VIN number when considering buying anything. Two very similar cars do not necesssarily have similar insurance charges.

Note that I didn't say this makes any sense.
