Easy going versus fun in L99
Ok I average around 15 to 15.7 miles per gallon when I am getting to the speed limit quickly around town. You know that fun tire eating stuff. But I have been running it easy on this latest tank of gas and I am getting 17.4 miles per gallon.
Alot of folks have brought up SS milage and I just wanted to throw this out. Know to decide if it is worth saving some money versus having fun with Bee Bee. |

You mean you actually slowed down enough to get 17.4 MPG Scott!!!???!!! I saw your tires and I thought you were getting around 9 MPG by the looks of them! HA/HA Any way, I really don't know what I am getting with mine but she is in hibernation right now for the Michigan winter. I ran 4 tanks of gas through her and have 970 miles on her.

After doing the proper Big Brembo Brake break-in for my customer's SLP ZL550 the other day I decided to zero out the average fuel milage and see what it would do for the 20 minute 70 - 75 mph cool down period and the drive back to the dealership. I was amazed that his 550 hp Camaro was recording a 22.9 average! I own a 2SS auto and I think the best I've gotten trying to baby it for a hundred miles was around 18.5 or so. Now his was'nt a direct ship from the factory to SLP. He actually had about 900 miles on his when we shipped it back to SLP for their work to be done and maybe that pre break-in helped...but I was amazed reguardless!!

Holy cow! I'm rethinking this whole 2SS thing. I thought it was supposed to get closer to 25 mpg. Reconsidering the 2LT at this point.

My driving is about the same as yours. I get 18.5 mpg and it's been that way since I owned the car and I have about 7000 miles on it now.

It all depends on how you drive. I was shocked hearing that people are getting 24 on the highway with the LS3. Then I actually TRIED to conserve and was getting similar results. 502 mile trip from West Texas down to South Texas (includes highway driving, some being 80mph legally, to small towns with stop and go traffic) I averaged 22 mpg. I was driving 'spirited' at times as well. |
