No I didn't...because I rarely check the dates to see when a thread was started. However, in my defense, I wasn't the one who resurrected this thread.

And even still, there is nothing wrong with bringing back an old thread. We can't criticize new members for not using the search feature and then criticize them for resurrecting old threads when they do use the search feature. Old threads still have relevance and can still bring up important questions. I bet a lot of currently active members had no idea about this thread. Just sayin...

I always said that the looks alone may be worth the price to some. Glad to see some good numbers. Now send a pair to OBX so they can make them for us cheapskates, lol!! Good work guys!!
Whenever you see the stepped headers dynoed around here they end up on the high end of what you expect for LT's. They have always done good on our customer's cars.

Talking with people who design headers the first 10" or so is the critical point. On my L92 heads the exhaust port is 1.562" wide at the widest point so a 1 3/4" tube at that point should work the best. That is why I would imagine a 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" header would be better. Heck maybe a 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" to a 2" might be the best of all. Only one way to know for sure.

This !!!

True because about 90% of all the exhaust gases "explode" out into the port and down the header tubing without need for any scavenging technology. This is called blowdown. So keeping the tubing small, keeps the velocity of the gases high and gets them on their way down the system. Stepping up the primary diameter after 9" to 10" helps keep the volume of gases moving as the initial blowdown velocity falls off.

All the other system design features like tri-ys, tuned primary lengths, merge collectors, pickles, spikes, etc are all done to deal with scavenging out that last 10% of the exhaust gases still lingering after blowdown.

Bought them from Maryland Speed, Kooks LT Ceramic Coated 1 7/8 Headers... LOVE these things, almost a year with them on and they still look next to brand new.

It's funny. I am actually leaning more toward these because they have a 3rd bung welded in for wideband, even though I could easily add one myself - but I'm lazy!
The fact that they prove to add even more ponies over standard headers, though, is icing on the cake. I think I will be pulling the trigger on these and a Doug Thorley cat back. It's an El-Cheapo exhaust, but it sure sounds nice from the sound bites I've heard...

Got my kooks stepped headers and Doug thorley exhaust installed yesterday. From the time we pulled it onto the rack to the time we fired it up was three hours.
Only slight hiccup was that we discovered that the passenger side muffler tip sticks out an inch more than the driver side. I seem to remember reading about this, and I seem to remember reading that they fixed it. Guess not. No biggie. Fixing that now.
Anyway, the header install couldn't have been any easier. Oil dip stick took a couple tries but pretty much uneventful.
Man, the power difference is instantly noticeable! The engine feels MUCH happier to be at 4k and above!
Headed to cunningham motorsports this morning for a tune. Any guesses on hp with 91 octane and all the extra goodies in my Sig? I'm hoping for >420, given the electric power steering, udp, and 10 extra hp claim from these headers.

Has your car been on Cunningham Motorsports dyno before? The reason I say this is that he uses a Mustang dyno and it reads lower compared to a Dynojet. He is a very good tuner and your car will be in good hands.
