If I told a dealer I was there to look at 2016s and they took me to look at 2015s, I wouldn't have said a word and immediately left & found another dealership.

$400 is a bit much but $200 is not going to get you great tint around here.

Prices are getting out of control. A 1SS with automatic trans as the only option is almost $39k!!! Most of the SS models I have seen on the lots around here are marked close to $50k. Hell a 1LT Vette is only $5-6k more than that!!!

Right. I wanted to upgrade, but I can just buy a stingray instead and get way more power.

Our dealer markup on window tint is similar down here. Laughable... I paid $80 to tint my ranger and ~$160 for the Camaro. I think it was closer to $200 when I still lived in Houston, but I'd never pay them that much of a markup on it. (They're using the same vendor to do the tint that I use...)

Agreed... I either would have (in a very condescending manner) asked for another salesman, or just left.

seeing that the Op is in FL tinting is everywhere and everyone does it so under 200 should be a good deal. up here in the midwest 250-300 for a camaro is about normal.

as for the dealer markup thats about right for an added on accessory. remote starts up here installed at a shop go for about 300 (compustar, one way, with bypass modules) and a dealer would mark it up to about 500 or so.

True, but keep in mind, the '16 Camaro SS at almost/just under $50K comes fully loaded with things like MRC, NPP exhaust, six piston brakes, etc. and of course the very same engine with the same output of the Corvette. Starting price for the Vette, 1lt, is right around $55-56K, no mrc, no NPP, 7 speed manual trans, no HUD. To get any of those things, you're hitting $60K easy.

Of course, the Corvette is the Corvette, but GM as really closed the gap between the Camaro and the Corvette in terms of performance. It only fits that they would close the gap on the MSRP as well.

As far as things like window tint on a new car, I would rather pay the dealer $400 at time of purchase than source it out later for less money. My reasoning is that with the dealer, you have a much better path of recourse if something goes wrong, either quality or legal issues. Not to mention that it could be negotiated in the deal which could wind up saving money.

Price is what it is. 40 grand is a lot of money for a car, but then, comparatively speaking, either the Corvette or the Camaro is a lot of car for the money. When you compare performance with more expensive cars.
It's just where the market is right now. In a couple of years, there will be some very affordable used '16's around. If I still want one then, that's the road I'll go, but until then, I'll simply enjoy what I have.
