It has been a fight from the beginning with the Camaro's and the durability of some of the factory parts.
We (all the Camaro teams) have been trying to work with in Grand-ams rules to make the cars competitive, but its just been an up hill battle.
Remember, the mustangs have been racing in this series for a while and have had time to work out the bugs.
One of the big issues is the clutch slave. Hopefully Riley (the builders of the Continental Camaro's) has a fix for this now.

We will see.

Thats one of the big reasons I am part of the GS team this year. That is to help bring what we are learning on the track to a street car line of parts. Not just something that might work, but stuff that really does work.

The power plants that we run are the factory engines. The only thing done to the engines are the rod bolts are replace. The engines are sealed engines for the Camaros. They run though stock manifold and factory air box, though a Grand-am provided restricter.

Are we to assume this are Ls3 motors or perhaps a future engine model.

It appears that the Camaro best-lap times were off the leaders by a bit..... what changes do you anticipate (or would you like to see!) to help make the Camaros more competitive in the GS class?

I had a great time watching you guys race at Daytona this year! If it had not been for 2010 Camaro participation, I would not have been there. I hope GM appreciates the advertising benefits of your and other Camaro teams and helps you guys out!

These are the same engine that comes in your Camaro. Other than the addition of a dry sump type oil pan, scavenge pump, and a rod bolt change.

Yes, were are a good bit off the Leaders. There are a few issues that we are addressing. Its mainly the fact that you take a completely stock street car and decide to go racing with it. There are suspension things to look at. Drive line issues (clutch, trans, etc). It will take a little time to work out these bugs, if we can get Grand-am to cooperate.
We will be doing some testing at the end of the month with some of the new changes. Hopefully we will see a lot closer field in Birmingham.

We do not expect to be setting on the pole with a Brand new car, but we should be getting a lot closer by now
