Some people will say a 3.91 is to short for a blower. I can't wait to add a blower to mine. With 3.91 you will shift at 40-44mph and shift out of second at 60-64. So the real question is can you shift that fast with a blower on your motor?

Like it was said already, if you're gonna put a blower on, do the 3.73. 3.91's are great too with a blower, but it's just harder to hook up from a dead stop. Not saying it can't be done, but it will be more difficult.

Centrifugal supercharger go with the 3.91s. A top mount just keep the 3.45s or go with the 3.73.

With a centrifugal and 3.91s you leave the line at a low RPMs and launch pretty hard. They build more and more power as the RPMs go up.

With the top mount they make there power down low and just keep it relatively the same throughout the RPMs. Will give you a good smoke show with lower gears. But seem to work good with higher gears.

I personally like 3.91 gears. They make the car feel about 300bs lighter just driving normal. And I run a little V3 supercharger. It's a very predictable easy to control set up even with it making a bit over 700rwhp. Also is much easier on the rest of the drivetrain.

Slickcas I had 410's with my V3 and loved them before they blew up LOL I'm thinking of going with 3:91's next, what RPM do you launch at?

With Nitto 555R's I am most consistent at around 2500 RPMs. But have got a few 1.81 60' by taking the RPMs all the way up to 5500 and just slipping the clutch a bit and lightly rolling on the gas. Basically I'm just using the stored energy in the motor and flywheel to get the car moving. I just run a street alignment, i'm sure with an aggressive alignment you could do a lot better.

Never heard of 3.91s breaking. But sticky tires and a hard launch will break something on these manual cars.

Leave it stock at 3.45. If you factor in the ZL1 3.73 rear gears with the transmission gearing, it's very close to the SS 3.45 and it's transmission gearing.

3.91 gears + blower will be quite the spin fest.

Yep! I had 4.10s with my Maggie. That was some good, scary fun...while it lasted. LOL

3.89's with my Novi 1500 setup (9" rear). Had 3.50's in it. One of the best changes I have made to the car! I haven't tried it at the strip yet with the 3.89's. On street tires, it wont matter. Spin fest regardless. With slicks, recovery from a spin is always easier with lower gears (less wheel speed).

Even though it's still spin city, now that I'm back to stock 3.45s, I think 3.73s would be the more ideal setup. When I finally upgrade the rear, I'll probably go that route, maybe 3.89s or 3.91s.

Blower and 3.91 - that's a racecar combo on 26-27" slicks.
For a street car, PSJ is correct. You had better have a cool uncle who owns a tire shop.

That low ratio tranny first gear will blow the tires every time with 3.91 rear gears powered by a huffer.
