Call Monday. They could have submitted your order in workbench while you were there. There is NO reason not to enter it and give you your 6-digit confirmation number- NONE.

might be worth it to find out how many orders are ahead of yours and find out how many allocations they have so you have an idea of how long you should expect to wait. some dealers will just take your order and let you hang out there expecting to have a car soon. meanwhile your order isn't even close to being accepted or produced. pm me if you need any help.

finaly went to the dealer and ordered my camaro today.

hey guys the dealer I went to told me they have available allocation to order my car. he also showed me how many cars he has been getting alloted each month. when I asked him if he would give me my order number right of way he said give me your deposit we will order the car on thursday. He told me that he can only put orders in on thursdays for some reason, that sounded strange to me. I need some advice people does this sound normal or is he gunna hold my order for 4 months before he puts the order in lol. Also I heard that dealers can put orders in when ever they want even if they dont have allocation. He told me im looking at about 2 to 3 months for the car. Should i have asked him for something more \. should i have not ordered from him , Your opinions are greatly appreciated thanks.

thursday is the day that each order cycle begins and that may be the day he has set aside time to place orders. you can put an order in any time between 9am to 9pm est but since the camaro allocation is based on gm's formula the order wouldn't be picked up until the dealer has an allocation and the order doesn't include any constraints in that order period.

I think for the most part you are the exception to the rule. Most people are finding out that the sales guys are in no big hurry to help out if the car isn't on their lot..... IMO if the lots were full of Camaros the sales guys would fall over each other trying to get the sale ......

Heck, when I set down with my salesman he immediately entered the order online. I do not know how long it took for GM to accept it, but I seem to remember the salesman telling me they accepted it almost immediately. I did order mine on a Thursday around 3 pm. The salesman printed off a couple copies of my order and gave it to me.

I did not know to get my workbench number until I read it on this site, so I guess it could have taken longer. I think it was about a week before I found this site and found out I needed the number. I immediately e-mailed my salesman and he sent it to me within five minutes... So if it has been a week, you should be able to get it... If I remember right, there were around 20 cars ahead of mine... Comanche is a town of around 4500 people and a lot of those orders seemed to be going to other areas in the State... I know I have only passed one or two in town so far... Those cars went somewhere... Everytime I asked the dealer (when a car came in) they told me it was going out of town....mostly to the DFW area.... Strange, but true....

Boy did I get off subject....

First off, welcome to the forum.

If the manager put your order in on that Monday, he entered it in OrderWORKBENCH and already has your 6-digit confirmation number. GM "accepting" the order SHOULD mean that your dealer is "tagging" it with available allocation and your event code should move from 1100 (order placed) to 2000 (order accepted). It seems to be running about 4-5 weeks from that point (2000) to get to event code 3800-produced- when you will be able to get your VIN. Once you have your VIN, enter your information in www.camarotracking.com to track the QC release and shipping of your vehicle. Most people hang out in the Built and Bayed thread once they have a VIN:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22850

*Note that ALL Camaros go through a final QC check before shipping; could be a day, could be a week. Don't assume something is wrong because of it.

In the meantime, you can ask Viz once a week to check your event code status to see if/when you progress.

Viz's thread:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31115

List of Event Codes:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9714

Enjoy the wait- plenty to read up on here to "know" your Camaro long before you get it.
