8:20 is more than fine for an SS. What other car will get you those times for 30K?

I was hoping for a little better quarter mile times, I'm never gonna be on a race track, it is all about the staight line with me....
I'm not dissapointed at al with the lap times. I think with all the hype we have recieved with the new corvette as clogged your mind. I think 8.20 is probably an average lap time for the type of car that the camaro is. Not dissapointed at all. |

Unless I get really lost and find myself in Germany, I don't think I'll be running the Nurburgring anytime soon.
Tell me how fast it will go in a straight line, for about a quarter mile. I'm way more interested in that. |

You can be assured that Nurburgring will be revisited by the Top Gear crew or some other car show or magazine with the Camaro.. It should post better times with the proper conditions..

hey big daddy ( the corvette) answers for the nurburgring challange , the camaro is a 100% muscle car that means 100% drag racing ,
like the people at gm says camaro have always been about sleek exterior and honest american power ( not comfort, handling and good interior ....well , thats changing but its kind of complicated) on the other hand 8,20 mins is pretty good time , we all wanted the concept shape right?? let's pay the consequences , ( any way i can't even afford to run circuit, drag strip for the win )

This is a car that was basically built for the U.S. market. Ask people what kind of suspension they want, even in a sporty car. They want a compromise between floaty suspension and flat cornering. Even with todays technology that's alot to ask. Engineers weren't looking for the fastest lap time they could run, they were looking for a compromise, and at 8:20 they found it. Look at the cars they're running times close to, that's good company. If they would have tuned the car specifically for the track their time would have dropped significantly, but the drive to the track would also be somewhat uncomfortable.
If you drive your car to work and back, to WallyMarket, etc. you'll be happy. If you want to drop your track times it'll be easy enough with a strut/torsion bar change.
