Launching on DRs

I just bought a set of DRs for my 585 rwhp / 565 rwtq M6 camaro SS. I've seen a lot of A6 running DRs with a lot of HP and the stock halfshafts without any problems. What I would like to know is if there are any guys here running their M6 camaros with similar rwhp and tq at the track. I can't wait to get my tires but I'm a little afraid of what could happen to my halfshafts (rear axle) if I launch the car too aggressive. If any of you guys are running a similar set up with stock halfshafts please let me know what are you guys doing to launch the car effectively and safe with DRs.

Thanks!!!

6K and dump the clutch! Oh yeah, you should probably hold on too. Gd thing I'm auto. To much to worry about with a stick car. I can't wait to see the improvement.

And more importantly your wheels/tires departed CT yesterday at 10:10. Thats the latest update.

Jamie, I'm afraid if I do that (6K and dump the clutch), I'll end up with a broken halfshaft... but I guess this things are strong enough.

Now what about the drive shaft U joints, or bolts... has anyone had problems with those...?

For anyone interested...

Here's what happened to my passenger side halfshaft after only 15 passes at the track:

This was using Launch Control with 18" MT drag radials.

Drive it out of the hole. If you don't smell the clutch it is not over slipping. Don't dump the clutch except on wet pavement for the burn out. You might want to upgrade the front and rear drive shaft bolts (industrial bolt supply company) and make sure they all have loctite. I sheared my rear bolts at the thread where they screw into the yoke. Caused damage to drive shaft. They did not have loctite and may have been loose.

Never spin the tires in first or second with traction control on. It will apply the brakes hard to stop the spin.

I would highly recommend you not dump the clutch on stock shafts. DR will hook very hard compared to street radials and you most likely going to snap an axle. I would suggest loading it around 3500-4000 and slip it out and then hit WOT once it is out of the hole. If you get any wheel hop at all, instantly push in the clutch and get out of it or it will be the last pass. Get you some axles and then you can launch as hard as you want.
