Question to the GM big wigs...... on ZL1 / Z28

Now that the cat is out of the bag on the ZL1 can you confirm that all the speculation for the past several months and with the spyshots that kept coming up on the newly designed Z28 that they in fact were not ever the Z28 but in fact spyshots of the ZL1? the rear exhaust and hood design and fascia seem to totally fit this new ZL1.....

I honestly don't think they had their mind made up on what to call it when they started to talk about it. In the live chat, they said a few names came up, and the ZL1 fit the best...

Waiting for a different answer? The first response covered it. Several names kicked around as mentioned on the webcast.

At this point, I think it's doubtful they will actually make something branded Z28 for the 5th gen...I think that's what the ZL1 is.

I'm not sure why they went with the ZL1 designation, but at this point I wouldn't hold out on there actually being a Z28 in the near future.

Maybe once the 6th gens come out?

not according to the response I received here.

seriously why would they not brand a 5th gen with Z28? the car was built as a retro 69 which included a Z28 which is the most sought after model for enthusiasts. Any bookies want to take action on the over under possibility of a Z28?

Z28 is just a name... Just be happy that we are getting something that will eat GT500's.

I agree...and it wouldn't be equal or faster than the ZL1 anyway. If anything, the order would be Camaro > Z/28 > ZL1.

I know everyone wants a Z/28 badge, but that is basically what you have now with the SS. The RS and SS were packages added to a model, not a standalone model as they are currently being used.

Z28 may come out, but my thinking is it will be when they do the 6th gens. From what I've read on the boards, that could be 2014, perhaps earlier. We really don't know.

I think they intend to reintroduce the z28 with the alpha platform, the smaller and liter alpha camaro would better fit the original intent of the Z28. IMO

LOL, the only people that called the spy photos Z28 were the fans. You never heard GM call the cars in the photos a Z28....................it wasn't even acknowledged.
