1SS Gauges

I have a question? If the 1SS has a console with no gage cluster, what does the console look like with out the four gages? Any photos out there? Also, in the dash Instr. Cluster are there lights or gages for Oil presure and Temp?

The thread with the IOM RS/SS showed the console without gauges. Yes, there are idiot lights in the instrument panel.

Thnaks, thats the only pic Ive ever seen without them.

I think they should be standard equipment (big surprise, right?)

Does anyone PREFER not to have those gauges? Just curious.

Thanks for the photo. I agree why not make the gages standard on all SS and RS cars?

I thought it was curious that it was first reported that it would be part of the RS package and now it isn't. I have a couple of ideas:

1) It would make the price of the RS package even higher. (probably the main reason)

2) It's a cool "wow" feature that other cars don't have. It's part of the retro image and they want people to see it. They want to see these gauges end up in lots of cars and that's probably more likely to happen by adding it to certain trim levels instead of isolating it to the RS package.

3) That being said there is a big advantage to having a storage area right there. Whatever you plug into that 12V outlet that is right there... where are you going to put it? Whatever it is will be in the passenger floorboard or in the passenger seat or in your cupholder. Same story with a 4th gen convertible. So if you have the gauges you will probably plug your cellphone charger in the center compartment instead of that outlet...hope you don't have alot of stuff in the center compartment. I want the gauges anyway.

There are a couple images of the SS steering wheel around here; I'll try to find it but someone will probably beat me to it...

Console without Gauge Cluster

Ask and you shall receive.

Here is a pre-production Camaro console without the gauge cluster.

I can live without the gauges, but we'll see if GM will offer incentives down the road allowing me to get EXACTLY what I want.
