Detailer's Domain: S2000 - Paint Correction

My customer bought a leftover S2000 in BB with no miles (amazing deal). However the paint was another issue. Here is where we came in.

We put about 14 hours into the paint over 2 days and below are the results.
Other than the paint the car was mint!

What was done -
Exterior

- Wheels were prepped with Sonax Wheel Cleaner and cleaned up with various brushes
- Tires were spritzed down with Adam’s All Purpose Cleaner and washed down
- Wheel wells were cleaned up
- Pre Washed with W99
- Wash down and rinsed
- Door jambs were cleaned up
- Clayed
- Dried
- Tires dressed
- Masking
- Paint Measurement
- 2 Step - Menzerna Super Intensive Polish with Menzerna Super Finish
- Inspection with Fenix, 3m Sun Gun, Infratech, and natural sunlight
- Last Step – Lusso Oro
- Rubber and Plastics Treated
- Exterior windows and mirrors cleaned and sealed
- Exhaust tips cleaned
- Windows were clayed, cleaned, and sealed
- Jambs steam cleaned

Wheels were in great shape we used Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner (no brushes needed)


Clean wheels


Tires were cleaned with the Uber Wheel/Tire Brush and Adam's All Purpose Cleaner


Uber Fender Brush to clean up the wheel wells


Pre Rinse, Wash, Convertible Top Cleaned









After wash pics show how bad the paint really is

50/50 shots of the paint correction - Super Intensive Polish followed by Super Finish

After the extensive polishing we rinsed all the dust off the car

that is some amazing work. now i have to say i would love to be able to do that to my cars. but i do understand you need the tool and can not do that with just hands. also i have a question. with what you did is it considered a cover up and if not kept polished and waxed that the swirls will come back?

have a question if you can answer. what is the best way to clay bar a car? i have used the detailer before and then i was told by some one i could wash the car down really good and then rinse it. after i rinse it put soap in the area you want to clay bar and it works just as good as with the detailer.

This is NOT a cover up job!

He actually REMOVED all the damage from the paint by leveling the clear coat down PAST the damage that you saw in the first couple of pictures. This is what paint correction consist of. You don't cover up anything, you FIX it. You don't have to keep it waxed to keep the swirls from coming back, you have to learn how to properly wash the car and touch the paint. If you do both of those correctly, the swirls will not come back.

Swirls are not some mystical occurrence that just happens from swirl fairies while you sleep. They are the results of improper touching of the paint with crappy supplies and techniques.

The best way is to use a quick detailer. In this write-up, it appears that Optimum No Rinse was used. Don't be cheap and try to use soap. You'll never get the mixture right and you waste more expensive soap instead of using the cheaper detail spray.

What I would like to know is where the hell was this done where you still need a jacket? I'm roasting my nuts off where I live! :(

thank you for the advice. i mean i have to admit i do what i can to keep my cars clean and shinny but i do not have all the proper tools. i lay wax by hand. and i wash my car with micrifiber towels, and once i wash the car before i dip it back into the soap bucket i rinse it off from all debris. and i dry with a shammy. i guess after time of trying new things i will find the right way. lol
