On a brand new Engine... you want to change the oil early... 300-600 miles on it depending how hard you drive it... then again about 1400 - 1600... again depending how hard you drive it.

I'm getting mine changed next week. I'm up to about 900 miles now, and I've been driving my car real hard and its been on a dyno.
But when I took my 06 GTO in for an oil change with about 700 mile on it, the service manager thought I was crazy. Even even said, we'll change your oil if you like spending money, but you don't need to get it done yet. I told him to just go ahead and change the oil. He doesn't know how I drive. |

It isnt going to kill you if you miss the first 300-600 oil change. Although any oil change is a good one, and decreasing your potential risk is always not a bad idea.
you can go about 1500mi without any significant difference, at least from what i've learned from this forum and other sources... |
