Ride height is 650mm. Earlier this year I saw Pedders posted about a minimum of 660mm ride height. Could this be sole reason for the split? How do I check the CV joint for damage/wear? Am I better off just replacing the axle vrs. only the boot if CV joint is OK? Warranty?
2010 SS, stock HP, 1LE tires & wheels,Pedders pace car kit with ZL1 style rear sway bar,full alignment kit and aggressive street alignment.18000mi,4 track days,no drag racing.
Any advice, comments or information would be greatly appreciated,thanks!

Better late than never I hope.

Lowering will increase the operating temperature of the joint due o the increase in shaft angle. We know that. Lowering is not asociated with a split CV boot.

A quick check of the lube inside the boot will give you a good indication of the condition of the joint. If there is clean lube beneath the outer layer the joing should be fine and a replacement boot is an apropriate fix.

Axles are at the Drive Shaft Shop for road course up grade.Waiting is the hardest part!

I guess we are neighbors.I have done only 2 ,2 day events at New Jersey Motorsports Park with Porsche Club of America.They seem to be the least expensive. If you want more details PM me your phone #,for me talking is a lot easier than typing.

The angle of the shaft increases when you lower a 5th Gen. That increases the heat in the CV joint. The factory lube is OK, but when it gets track hot liquifies. The CV boot is designed to keep dirt and debris out, not liquified lube in.

You can do a fair job of 'changing' to a higher temperature lube with on the car by removing the clamp, cleaning out the boot and joint then replacing it with high temp lube. To do the job really right, remove the shafts and do a full service on them. In the interim, wipe off the outside and drive on.

Jack Olsen The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same. Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different. I can't wait for my next Track fix. DA HAWKS OWN DA CUP!!!!!
