Factory Head Units and Heat
Today it hit over 100 degrees in DC/Metropolitan area. Went to the gym to go work out, when I came back to my car, this is how my radio looked:
Luckily it returned to normal after a about 20 minutes but its only the first day of summer. Is this normal for the factory radio? Should I have it serviced while its still covered? I didnt really have an option to park in the shade. I guess i'll need to tint the front window or get one of those cardboard heat covers. I never, had this problem with any other radio... ever. |

WHOA!
It was 115 here for a month last summer and my radio never looked like that.

Never had that problem, but you might want to leave your windows cracked to relieve some of the heat next time?

Take it in to have it looked at. LCD screens are well known to do that when it's really cold but I've never heard of them doing it when it's hot.

I came across this while researching head units on the internet. I live in AZ and we get some pretty hot days here. While it can be a warm 115 degrees outside, the inside gets much hotter than that, especially here. I've never heard or seen his happening here in AZ.

It gets pretty hot down here in South Texas and we hit the teens too. My car radio has never done that in three years. I'd take it back and get it replaced..should be coverd under warranty.

Mine did that once when cold but there is a bulletin for that. Not once when it was hot... Take her in.
