Clutch slipping???
A little background first..... I have a 2010 SS M6 with just under 14,000 miles, I also have an S-10 with a 5 speed that I've put 30k on with NO clutch issues at all, and who knows how it was treated in the 90k miles before I bought it, so I don't think the driver is the issue here. My driving style in the Camaro is probably average for the car, I don't beat on it, but don't baby it either....it's meant to be enjoyed and that's what I do. I've had my clutch stick to the floor twice now, the first time was last fall on the anniversary of me bringing the car home. I was going to do a little birthday burnout, and the pedal stayed on the floor at launch, I think I was between 2,000 and 2,500 rpms. It stunk to high heaven for a while(obviously), and the pedal was a little spongy the rest of the day, but the next day everything was normal. This Sunday morning it happened again, but I was NOT doing a burnout, just a hard launch, around 1,600 - 1,700 rpm, it launched fine, a little more tire spin then I wanted but acceptable, then I shifted to second and the pedal stayed down.... Once again the smell of burnt clutch and a spongy pedal, but it went away after some easy driving.
Now the trouble...... Later that evening the car started doing something weird, I guess the clutch is slipping but I'm not sure. Almost every time I start to move from a stop, forward or back, it almost feels like something is grabbing, once you get going it stops. I think of a clutch slipping more when you put a load on it not when just starting out, I would also think it would happen in EVERY gear, not just 1st and reverse. So I guess my questions are. First,IS the clutch slipping, and what would you guys suggest I do about it? Second, are clutches covered under warranty? Third, could my skip shift eliminator be causing some sort of issue?

Have you bled your clutch? The fluid goes bad and gets crud in it because its shared with the brake reservoir. I'd try that first. Thats why there's a thread on here about separate reservoirs. Might want to read through it.
Warranty on a clutch is hit and miss at 14k miles. A lot of times they'll claim driving style or wear item but the fewer miles you have on the car the more likely you can get it covered. You'd need to talk to your dealer. |

I took my car to the drag stirp and burnt my clutch up. As in the announcer made note of the blue smoke coming from my car along with my dad seeing it as well. I think the clutches might be a little weak. I still have the stock tune.
