Figure about 3-4 hours of shop time to do the install, plus the cost of the alignment. Shop rates vary from location to location, but a decent estimate would be 75-100 per hour. The best way to get an idea of how much it would be is to call around to your local speed shops in your area and get some quotes.

Suspension mods aren't just for race cars! A couple strategic modifications make these cars a whole lot more fun to drive on the street too. |

1. Install coils 2. Install Sway Bars 3. Time the Bushes 4. Align the Car Bush Timing Step 1. Lift the car on a two post lift and raise it. Step 2. Loosen the following bolts/nuts: Front: ---Inner Control Arm Bushing ---Inner Radius Rod Rear: ---Trailing Arm Bushings (both ends) ---Toe Rod Bushings (both ends) ---Lower Control Arm Bushings (Inner) ---Upper Control Arm Bushings (Rearward) ---Lower Strut Bushings Step 3. Lower the car and drive it around the parking lot SLOWLY and on to the alignment lift. Step 4. With the weight of the car on the wheels tighten all of the nuts/bolts to spec. Step 5. Align the car at the new ride height. Bush timing is frequently skipped or the tech does not know why or how to do it. Skipping this step prevents the new coils from performing smoothly and can lead to premature bush failure. Your new endlinks are adjustable and will take longer to install than the fixed length factory endlinks. Alignment There are two types of alignments. A green range alignment gets the alignment numbers in the green range. That means one front wheel could have -0.8 degrees of camber while the other front wheel is -0. 2. While the machine says green Pedders says sloppy work and not good enough. A green range alignment takes less than 30 minutes. A tight spec Pedders style alignment takes an hour to 90 minutes. If the tech has done a number of Camaro's they will be faster than a tech doing one for the first time. The fastest a tech can do all this would be four hours, but it should not take more than six. Print this out and take it with you. Let us know how it all works out. |
