Water spots on plastic

Hello everyone,

I noticed the sticky topic on Water spots and read about the vinegar/deion water for water spots.

However, my water spots are actually on all the plastic material under the hood [engine cover, all the plastic surrounding the wiper blades, etc].

So, should I still use the vinegar/deion water on this plastic material or is there a better solution for that?

Thanks in advance,
Chad

I've used Wet and Black tire shine on the plastic parts under my hood to give them a nice shine.

You can clean under there with most any cleaner. Usually I use the Tire cleaner/Engine degreaser under the hood, and then rinse it off with water at the car wash. It works pretty good.

Just don't leave degreaser on the plastic too long.

Thanks for the answers.

I tried Meguiar's Exterior Trim Detailer [now called Ext Trim Coating] and it seemed to do the job. Made it nice and shiny and no more water spots.
