Consider a Convertible?

How many of you are having major issues with your convertibles? I'm looking to buy a Camaro in about ten months, probably a used 2010 or 2011. Wondering if I should skip over the convertible option and instead just go with a coupe (no sunroof?). Do they cause more problems than convenience?

I've had mine (new 2011) 3 weeks, so far no issues. I think you will find many owners that have not had any issues.

Before I purchased, I posed the question on this forum and the response from owners was that even with the reported problems with the tops, they would still buy their verts.

If you will be buying used though, I would advise you to get a warranty that covers the top, just in case. There are no 2010 verts as 2011 was the first model year.

YMMV

If you want the wind through your hair, you may have to put up with some issues. All convertibles have their issues no matter who made them.

GO for it I'm one who has had problems with my top but wouldn't go back to the coupe I traded in. The car is so much better as a vert ! Before you buy it make sure to check the top for any issues that I know you have read about here. Not all have the problem, but if you are aware of the issues you can avoid the problems.

You will love it. I am one of the ones who have not had any top problems not including the little rub marks. I love the verts a lot better. You will get peoples heads turning when in it. Even the people with hardtops.

These issues on the top really have me hesitant to buy a vert. I have a ZL1 coupe on order, but, thinking about canceling it since I am #1 in line for the vert at my dealer when the ZL1 vert comes out. Got a spot on both while I had time to sort out the problems with the vert. Has GM fixed all the issues talked about on this forum on the production line, or, are they just fixing them car by car as the complaints come into the dealer?

Old timer they are still going down the line without any of the TSB's in place. Once you have your car and develop problems they will fix. There is not a complete fix yet from the factory or engineers yet. It is supposed to be coming mid January per Jack Pantaleo. Time will tell.

I have had mine since July '11
The only issues I have(knock on wood)
some small rubs marks on roof and some wind noise with roof up at
60 mph + coming from seems to be back window.Overall great car.
I will not have any minor issues that I have experienced addressed until a permanent fix is in, as alot of the major issues have stemed from top replacement done incorrectly.
If you are buying new consider an extended warranty and make sure the roof is covered.

Todd, you are one of the lucky ones. Any idea what the build date is? What is the percentage of top down versus up?

I was one of the first with top problems. I fixed it myself after they replaced the top and am pretty happy with the results.
There is no way you could get me into a coupe, even if it was a ZL1.

The problems really aren't "that" bad to where id completely dissuade someone from buying one... especially if its a pre- owned. Just read through the posts, you'll know what to look for. Some cars have issues, some don't. Be selective and you'll be fine!

Even with my early build and problems I've endured, I still love the entire concept of the car! Its a little bit if a pain for the moment taking extra measures to protect the top material, but I'm keeping my hopes up for a fix in the near future...

Don't regret my purchase, that's for sure!
