Best shift points with paddle shifters?

So I am far from expert, but can I get some opinions on the perfect shift points for every gear for three drive styles.

style 1 - normal traffic
style 2 - spirited driving
style 3 - wide open throttle

For each gear, I mean if your normal traffic and in second you should shift at
XXXX RPM at XX mph speed.

I just want some comparison to my driving and what can be improved.

I would not use those modes myself on this automatic. it's not a BMW or Porsche dual-clutch auto transmission designed for road course use. I really hope you auto guys get a better trans in the Gen6.

It doesn't have a clutch. (Technically, it has many clutches, but I digress.)

When I use my paddles for WOT, I usually upshift around 58-5900. Even with tuning there is a little lag in the system, so the shifts happen around 61-6200rpm.

When I downshift, I usually go by road speed. <30mph I can downshift into first, <60-second, <90-third.

The best way to shift these cars is to:

1. Step on the clutch.
2. Select the desired gear.
3. Release the clutch while stomping the shit out of the accelerator.

It's all relative to what you want. It's not a one shoe fits all answer. The faster you want to accelerate, drag the gears out to where you see fit. These V8's don't really start pulling until north of 4,000 RPM. The car won't let you do anything out of the safety bounds anyway. It has a rev limiter and does calculations to keep you from downshifting too far as well.

I concur, but this applies to cars with man pedals only.

Disclaimer: I have actually owned more autos than manuals

just generally speaking, I never beat on automatics. they are the one piece that when pushed will eventually fail and costs a bunch of money (and so far I've been scared to try fixing).

it's the 6L80 right? it's just sorta lame-o shifting anyhow. if you watch what a true dual clutch auto can do, it's pretty amazing

After a while you get a feel for when it needs to be shifted, I know on my V6 after a while I don't have to look at the speed or RPMs, I can tell from the sound of the engine, and how the car is accelerating. Like it's been said, the computer won't let you hurt the engine by over revving it or lugging it. Just experiment and have fun.
