Only two cars that I know of that won't work with the app are Corvette and Malibu. Next-gen Malibu's due next year on EpII, and C7's coming soon, so no point in upgrading either cars right now.

I contacted OnStar when the app first came out and they told me the same thing, though not in any definite terms. As they put it, the initial 2011-only release was still part of their R&D phase, sort of like a beta test period. I recommended at that time that they make that clear to customers because they were getting killed on forums like this one as well as the Android Marketplace. I don't see why they'd stop with 2010 either, and not support even earlier models. Now they just need to make the app a little smaller.

Well considering that, I'm pretty sure, there are many more 2010 owners than 2011 owners, it would make sense to have an app for the 2010's. But, I have been thinking about canceling my subscription, so next year will be too late for me.

Depending on your insurance it can be well worth it.... having OnStar on your vehicle and being insured by Liberty Mutual gives you a 10% discount on auto insurance and 5% on home insurance. If you have GMAC insurance you can save anywhere between 7% and 54% depending on how much you drive. As a driver under the age of 25 in NJ with Liberty Mutual insurance, that 10% makes a big difference. More than enough to offset the $240 a year that OnStar costs.

Just my $0.02

+1 I don't know how people can compare both when they are two different systems. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

Must be some new super iPhone or something. It knows when you are in a crash because it will be tossed outside with the impact.

GM used to give a one year "no extra charge" subscription, but now they only give 6 months. Not quite the 1-3 years of Sync.

Response:
Dear Mr. X,

Thank you for taking the time to e-mail OnStar.

The OnStar MyLink mobile app will be made available on most 2010 model year GM vehicles in 2011. More to come.
