Me either. That would be more confusing than putting the SS above the Z28 like they did with the fourth gen. If the Z28 significantly outperformed the SS and they just decided to offer it at an SS price range as a replacement, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Anybody with a trademark or copyright has to renew now and then. That would have to be done regardless of production date of the Z28, if ever.
The 1LE was never a year-after-year production car so a Z28 can be shoehorned in without much problem. For that matter, probably sales will dictate, but the ZL1 may be for a short few years... |

I have been told that GM is protecting what is rightfully theirs - they should have trademarked it years ago as intellectual property. Apparently it was never done or was allowed to expire at some point. This may not preclude the release of a new model Camaro.

Now this is an interesting move. But the thought that the Camaro SS could be renamed Z28 to free up the SS nameplate for exclusive use of the new sedan doesn't sit too well.
