Here's another good one that came up in the suggested videos:

It shows what Toyota calls auto LSD. It uses the brakes to limit wheel spin on an open diff. I think stabilitrack may do something like this....

I'm pretty sure camaro's have a torsen diff still? There's also a video of one of these on youtube, although it did not help my understanding of how the load is transferred with this setup.... lol

A positraction differential uses a set of clutches in between the left and right side axles to allow slip under high differential speed, as when turning.

An automatic locking differential uses differential inertia created by wheel spin to mechanically engage an axle lock. These usually will not activate over 30mph or so, giving you an open differential above that speed. These are mostly found in trucks.

Had my Chevy dealer install 3.91 gears in my SS L99. Kinda expensive way to go but kept my warranty intact. $1675 total. All I can say is holy crap, this bad boy runs like a scalded cat. Haven't even pushed it hard yet, got to break things in a bit. Worth every penny!!

I want to change 5th gear on my 1LE to a .840 like a standard SS. The OEM .740 is too tall and is more of a over drive gear. Does anyone sell just a set of gears for 5th gear?

What is the best Gearing for a V6 I think the 1LS has the same as the all other V6 (except the 2LS with the 2.92 gears) I heard that the 3.91 gears are too much for the V6 and I would be peeling out in 1st gear. So would a 3.55 gear be better for daily use ??

You should be fine with with 3.91 gears, especially on stock power. I have the IPF supercharger on my v6 and am planning to get nitrous soon, and think that I will definitely be wheel spinning too much with 3.91 gears, so I think I am going to end up with the 3.73 Richmond Gears.
