It's 305s now? I thought they were going with the 295 Goodyears?

True, but the issue is that the Shelby that they bring to market shortly after the ZL1 is going to be a whole other animal. I don't know how much they'll address the traction issues, but rumors are 600+hp.

That's the target the ZL1 will have to compete with, not the old model.

I agree but remember when the Camaro SS's final hp figures came out...it happened to be only 1hp more than the Challenger's SRT8 (425hp) making it 426hp? I was like WTF!!! So I hope they won't do it to the ZL1.

However that IS acceptable if the GT500 is 600hp and the ZL1 comes out at 601hp

Ford did the same thing with their V6 Mustang. 1 HP and 1 MPG more than the Camaro. It's definitely a trend that I hope won't continue with the ZL1.

Well bring on that snake lol. Gotta love these car wars. I still can't wait to see the ZL1 stomp it. I can't wait to see all the new cars at the track. Should make for some fun times......esp for the sleeper cars like my SS. Maybe the Z will have 585 or 600hp, or maybe 560hp with some mean torque numbers. But with the bigger tires on the Camaro, I don't think the Mustang has a chance. Every Shelby I've raced has had crazy traction issues while my bigger tires have just hugged the ground as I left em......let's hope for the same outcome.

I'm sure that was purely a coincidence ... lol

Problem is, if both the ZL1 & the GT500 are released at roughly the same time next year neither company will have the time to get their car rated at just enough to beat the other guy. Plus, with SAE certified hp ratings, there isn't a whole lot of wiggle room. So if the margin between the two engines is more than lets say 1%, I don't think it will be possible to give them near identical ratings.
