And the fun(mo money) begins....you could A: look for some 1LE axles used, I found some fer $100 a pop shipped...upgrade from standard SS axles and bolt right in....put them in my car last week....OR...B: go for the gusto and get after market axles for $1000 plus....OR... C: put in a complete ZL1 rear.....OR....each option the $$$ factor goes north exponentially...what are you final goals for power levels will/should dictate....peace out...

and practically ever time I hear about axles/cv's breakin the word DR is involved...good luck...

Put a stock axle back in and than do a wheel hop package that will keep them from breaking. Subframe bushings, trailing arms, toe rods from BMR

Or do the zl1 diff upgrade and be done with it

According to the GM specs, the 1LE has "Higher-capacity rear-axle half shafts to help with increased horsepower levels of traction".

I just copied and pasted from the GM site.

Used off of ebay a year ago when I first bought the car...the outer CV on 1LE are approx 1/2 in or more larger than SS CV...plus the axle bolt that come thru the hub is larger requiring bigger axle nut...

and yes wheel hop is a killer....and I will mention again that the proper rear alignment plays a big part too...
