Please dont do this to your poor car. Get that thing tune. You just changed a juge engine component. Get that baby a nice tune to match it.

Ok i wasent considering doing that unless it would help but thank you for responding, I was thinking about using a trinity tuning program, have you heard anything about this tuning, it's suppose to be the best one on the market

Yeah... Start off with a 1/2" hole or so and report back.
Drilling holes went out back in the 90's!

My LS9 cammed LS3 idles at 600rpm, redline is 6,800! 4.11 gears makes slipping the clutch without gas a breeze!

I have a 2010 camaro that has diablo tune on it and I am well pleased. I had lew do a custom tune on it and that really made the difference. He can set any point you want(idle, rev limit, shift points and etc.) Hope this helps. Be ready to drop some bucks.

gotroost, if you haven't driven a car with a slightly higher idle, you probably wouldn't notice it, but if you go drive an LS1 F-Body, or a C5 vette around, at 5 mph, stuff the clutch in, then let it back out without touching the throttle at all...then do the same thing in your SS, you'll see it right away.

It's just my opinion, I was wondering if GM is able to meet some idle emissions standard or something with them idling at 550.
The ECMs were a lot slower in those days so the 800 idle was necessary to be stable.

These new ECMs can Idle at 350 rpm if you wanted.

Raise it up to 650 and see how you like it, Custom tuning is all about getting what you Like.

I believe it is all about emissions.

Ted.

I actually liked the idle when it was stock, 550 didn't bother me a bit. Now that I have my UDP I raised it to 675 that's the lowest I can get without getting the "conserving battery" message. To be honest I don't even notice it anymore.

On to your question though, I think it's all about fuel economy.

I know this is a super old thread and I'm beating a blind deaf dumb and dead horse but... You've got to be kidding me. Installing a cam and not having your car tuned??? Of course it's wanting to die, I've never seen a car untuned with a cam that didn't want to die. How do you own a Camaro and yet not know how to spell its name?
