New Guy here looking for some advice on Throttle body spacer

I recently purchased my '12 1LT and have just added the KN can and it sounds sweet! Never have I thought I would fell in love with american cars since my previous 4 cars were all imports (i'm only 29). Anyhow, I feel like I want to get more power out of my 1LT and is looking to get a throttle body spacer.

I hear it can add extra HP and will not void my factory warranty and is easy to install. Is this ALL true? and what brands of spacers should i be looking at. Please entertain me with some of your knowledge. THanks

The spacer won't add any noticeable gains with a modern engine. A ported throttle body, however, will give you noticeable gains and kill dead zones. Check the marketplace, there's a couple of sellers selling them. I recently ordered mine, it's on back-order though. Make sure you order the correct one, the one for the LFX (2012 V6) was recently released.

Also, as with any aftermarket part, it only voids the warranty if the dealership can prove that whatever is wrong with the car is caused by an aftermarket part. For example, if your window motor malfunctions, a cold air intake won't effect the warranty since it's unrelated.

Which one should I be looking at to make sure it is the correct one? What's the "ported" mean and how is it differ from the standard spacer?

I ordered mine from this thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242686

Here is a TB spacer:

Here is a ported TB:

The spacer is intended to mix molecules and add velocity, but with our engines, the air/fuel mixture doesn't occur before the intake manifold.

The ported throttle body breaks surface tension of the flow along the TB giving improved low-end throttle response and mild mid range gains.

Prime Time, CONGRATS on the ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

I don't know of any throttle body spacer for the 2012 LFX V-6.

Get the ported throttle body from VMax. I have one and it makes a noticeable driveability difference.

TB spacer is a waste of money in our cars for the reasons cited above. Definitely check into the ported throttle body though; I have one and noticed a definite difference after install (it killed the hesitation/dead zone between 1700-2200 RPM)

I have one on my car but I only got it cause a fellow forum member let it go brand new for under 40 $. I was just looking to tool around with my car and do some more mods. I knew it wasn't actually going to add any power, my hope was that it would add some more growl to my Volant intake. In my opinion, it did but that could just be the placebo effect since the Volant was pretty loud to start out with. Would I pay over 100 $ for a new one? No. I just wanted a cheap mod and found it. I'd say pass on it and save up for a ported TB or an intake. Oh and I have the Airaid TB Spacer, just in case anyone was interested.

Same question, Im interested in this too, seeing as people are making it sound easier/as easy a CAI install.
