Okay, I ordered a SIM 2SS/RS from a dealer - being a stupid impatient guy I am I ordred from the 1st dealer I could get a deal from... well, after doing the home work late this is going to be a long wait. Long post short, someone turned down delivery of a black 2SS/RS. What would you do, jump on the car offer or wait? I love the black, I just live in Texas and it gets hotter than he-double-hockey sticks. I can always tint the heck out of it - Just curious what would you do if you were me - take the black or wait for your color?

I would go for the color you want, what you really want I know I did I just got allocation last Friday after being told it mite be a year I order mine in Texas too. IOM 2SS, black stripes, sunroof, m6, orange interior, rs package, groundeffects, and polished aluminum rims

I would take the black, but then again I ordered black...

I'd choose the color you want so you have no regrets. You may have to wait a few months, but then you will have years with the color you always wanted.

This seems to be a somewhat common question...."should I wait for what I ordered (really want) or take the first thing that comes along?" It is typically followed with something like "I really like this color too, but....."

I personally don't see the logic in this. Why would anyone spend that kind of money on something that isn't everything they want. I'd stay with the SIM and trust me, the wait is sort of fun in this forum.

I was in the similar situation as you, I ordered the red, but had a dealer call me and tell me that he had a black 2SS/RS in stock he was selling for Sticker. I jumped on it and I have been in love ever since. Black was the second color that I was debating on ordering.

Arrggg, SIM was my 1st but Black is sweeet. BTW - did I mention that I'm not patient, the 1998 Convertible Z28 is still holding up well, but there are just things happening - windows won't roll down, interior seats cracking you know normal wear... I'm so infatuated and I do like Black - I think I'll get this one and just trade up for that sweet Z28 if it's ever released in a couple years :P

I turned down a black 2SS/RS in June when my dealer had a customer cancel. I then ordered the Summit white 2SS/RS I really wanted. My Camaro was home in my garage on 8/21. The last I heard about 25% of the first 5th Gen Camaros were black- To hard to keep clean and way to many around in my opinion.

Okay, so a lot of good comments out there but I'm going black and got a cover for free to boot -- hopefully that'll cancel out on the cleaning issue a bit ... LOL I'll be such a freak covering the dang car :p I'm picking her up tomorrow - i'm going to pee myself now.. Thanks all for the great comments. I know the black will be hard to keep clean but I'm going to tint the crud out of it and I'll have fun washing and waxing the beautiful black shine.

Good for you...don't second guess yourself. Get the black today, with a cover and a self-installed Perma-grin, and have a blast.
